Standing Buddha Garden Statue
This standing buddha garden statue is carved from natural white marble, with smooth lines and harmonious proportions, presenting the Buddha’s solemn and peaceful state of mind.
In the statue, the Buddha’s head is complete, his spiral hair is neat, his face is full and soft, his eyebrows are stretched, and his eyes are slightly drooping, presenting a compassionate posture of “drooping eyes and watching the audience live”. The corners of the mouth slightly curved, revealing a peaceful smile.
The Buddha was dressed in monk’s robes, with folds naturally hanging down and distinct layers. The patterns on the robes flowed smoothly like water, showcasing the precise control of lines and light by stone carving artists.
The meaning of posture and gestures
- This Buddha statue adopts a standing posture, stepping on a lotus throne. Lotus is the most important sacred flower in Buddhism, representing purity and enlightenment.
- The Buddha’s right hand naturally droops, with the gesture of “Varada Mudra”, symbolizing blessings and compassion, symbolizing the Buddha’s compassionate heart to bless all sentient beings and fulfill their good wishes and prayers. And holding a lotus in the left hand symbolizes the seed of enlightenment and the blooming of wisdom, implying that all sentient beings can practice and become enlightened like lotus flowers in the muddy world of troubles.
- The swastika (ten thousand) pattern carved on the chest is one of the auspicious symbols of Buddhism, representing “auspiciousness, completeness, and eternity”, and also symbolizing the boundless and immeasurable merits of Buddhism. The entire design embodies the spiritual connotation of “power in tranquility” from head to toe.
